Well done to the guys who made it down to the City to Surf this year. Perth really turned on the weather, and it was a perfect day for the event.
Congrats to Bryn for being the first player across the line! A huge effort from all, and a great achievement.
It’s almost time to put the boots back on. The Steelers will begin pre-season training once again on Wednesday, 1st August. Juniors beginning at 6pm, Seniors starting at 6:30. Training will still be at the Kingsway Sporting Complex again. This year during pre-season we will be training on Wednesday evenings, and Sundays – time to be confirmed.
Make sure you get down to training guys. This year is shaping up to be a big one! Preparation is the key to success… Always remember the “6 P’s”
If you want to achieve ON the field, the hard work needs to be done OFF the field. We hope to see a big turnout for training this year, so get on board!
The Victorian Eagles hosted WA in the first match of the new Australian Gridiron League on Saturday 17th March at the State Hockey Centre in Parkville, Victoria.
In front of a big crowd and glorious sunny Melbourne skies the Raiders jumped out to an early lead with a touchdown and 2 point conversion. WA continued to move the ball and scored again early in the 3rd and the scoreboard didn’t change again as they ran out 16-0 winners.
Well done boys!
The WA Raiders will be paying the QLD Sundevils on 24 March at the John Dunn Memorial Park from 5pm. Tickets available at waraiders.eventbrite.com.au.
Get down there and support the team, the state, and the sport!!
Here it is guys… The final album for 2011/2012 (unless Doc can provide me with the photos from the presentations) from our semi final loss to the Blitz…
Oh, and a big congratulations to the Blitz for winning the GW Premiership this season!
Thanks to the efforts of Rhiannon Nightingale, Eimear Treacy, Toogood and Bryn in organising our End of Season function!
Hope to see you all there, and don’t forget to RSVP!!
The Gallery from the Saints game has been added!
The final results table will be updated as soon as Gridiron West post the official results…
Thanks to everyone who attended the regular season games this year, both players and fans!
NOW ON TO THE FINALS!!!
It was a rough year for the Steelers Juniors. They didn’t manage to pick up a single win, which was dissapointing considering the talent that some of our younger players have. The team did improve in leaps and bounds throughout the year, with some of our new players really starting to get a feel for the game. The improvements made by the team were obvious. Under the instruction of coach Matty Lane, the Juniors came closer and closer to that elusive with with each game throughout the season and managed to give some teams quite a suprise, giving them a real run for their money. Some of the older Juniors have even stepped up and have started showing some talent in the Senior league!
Congratulations to the Westside Steelers Juniors team of 2011/12 for a fantastic “never say die” attitude, and best of luck for next season!!
MVP: Tom Lorenti
Defensive Player of the Year: Solomon Serugga
Offensive Player of the Year: Sele Leau
Clubman and Coach’s award: Shaun Oates
The Steelers failed to extend their winning streak to 6 straight games against the Blitz on the weekend. Could the upsetting 22-6 loss could be exactly what they need to psych them up for the end of the regular season, and the upcoming finals campaign?
See the photos from the Blitz game in our Gallery!
Sorry about the delay, but the photos are finally up on the Gallery page! Enjoy!
Thanks again to Grant Morsley.
