WA Raiders defeat VIC Eagles 16-0!

The Victorian Eagles hosted WA in the first match of the new Australian Gridiron League on Saturday 17th March at the State Hockey Centre in Parkville, Victoria.

In front of a big crowd and glorious sunny Melbourne skies the Raiders jumped out to an early lead with a touchdown and 2 point conversion. WA continued to move the ball and scored again early in the 3rd and the scoreboard didn’t change again as they ran out 16-0 winners.
Well done boys!

The WA Raiders will be paying the QLD Sundevils on 24 March at the John Dunn Memorial Park from 5pm. Tickets available at waraiders.eventbrite.com.au.

Get down there and support the team, the state, and the sport!!

Junior’s Season over, awards have been announced.

It was a rough year for the Steelers Juniors. They didn’t manage to pick up a single win, which was dissapointing considering the talent that some of our younger players have. The team did improve in leaps and bounds throughout the year, with some of our new players really starting to get a feel for the game. The improvements made by the team were obvious. Under the instruction of coach Matty Lane, the Juniors came closer and closer to that elusive with with each game throughout the season and managed to give some teams quite a suprise, giving them a real run for their money. Some of the older Juniors have even stepped up and have started showing some talent in the Senior league!
Congratulations to the Westside Steelers Juniors team of 2011/12 for a fantastic “never say die” attitude, and best of luck for next season!!

AWARD WINNERS:

MVP: Tom Lorenti

Defensive Player of the Year: Solomon Serugga

Offensive Player of the Year: Sele Leau

Clubman and Coach’s award: Shaun Oates

New gallery and updated results table

The Steelers failed to extend their winning streak to 6 straight games against the Blitz on the weekend. Could the upsetting 22-6 loss could be exactly what they need to psych them up for the end of the regular season, and the upcoming finals campaign?
